| Our maintenance recommendations and suggestions will help provide a longer lasting, more efficient system, and a healthier living environment.
from Bryan's Heating and Air Conditioning |
We recommend regular yearly maintenance in the spring for A/C and in the fall for heating (especially gas furnaces). These regular visits can help keep your unit running efficiently and may also help to identify potential problems before they occur. Some problems may only show up after the season has begun and the system has been running for a while, but regular maintenance can greatly reduce their occurance. Older systems are typically more prone to have these problems than newer systems, but these regular maintenance checks are still important and can be a huge help on all systems. |

Appropriate air filtration systems and proper air filter changes are very important and should be taken seriously, especially by pet owners and allergy sufferers. Proper air filtration can help keep the interior components of your system clean, help maintain maximum airflow, lower the overall stresses on the system and help keep service calls to a minimum.

Thermostat batteries should be replaced every year. (You can replace them at the same time you replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.) We recommend that you find a comfortable temperature for your home and try to keep it there. Occasional adjustments can be made to maintain comfort, but we do not recommend adjustments greater than 5 degrees. When you turn off your system and open your windows to "save money" during moderate temperature days, the system must work very hard to remove the "Moisture" in the air first and then it will continue to run until the appropriate temperature is reached. Doing this type of on/off operation for short periods of time actually costs more money than it saves. Programmable thermostats are the best choice for maintaining comfort during times of occupancy, while reducing power consumption during non-occupied times. |

Always mow in a way that blows grass clippings away from your outside units. Any debris (leaves, weeds, grass, etc.) should be removed from the outside unit regularly. Plantings, shrubbery and walls or structures should not be placed near outside units. Outside units need to have adequate airflow to operate efficiently and keep their components cooled. |

Power outages, surges and brownouts can cause unseen damage to your air conditioning and heating systems. Be very conscious of system startup and watch for any problems after these electrical disturbances. If you notice any problems, call as soon as possible. Don't wait until the system has been running for a few days to see if it "goes away", you may cause more damage and needed repairs to the system than necessary. |
